Subcontracted blasting was holding them back

Weaving Machinery specialises in manufacturing cover-crop seeding machinery for the agricultural industry — a sector where build quality, corrosion protection, and surface preparation are critical to product longevity in the field.

For years, their blasting operations were handled entirely offsite by subcontractors. While functional, this arrangement created real friction: scheduling bottlenecks, quality control concerns, logistics overhead, and a lack of visibility over one of the most important stages of production.

The leadership team recognised that bringing blasting in-house was the right move — but they were determined to do it properly.

Weaving Machinery fabrication challenge

Power & abrasive volume control

Each of the 12 blasting wheels offers independent control over power and abrasive volume, enabling precise surface preparation across varying workpiece geometries.

Fully automatic recovery

Automatic abrasive recovery runs the full length of the outfeed rollers, reducing manual intervention and ensuring consistent media management throughout each blast cycle.

Crane-compatible low profile

The machine height has been reduced using a double recovery system, allowing existing overhead cranes to pass directly over the unit without obstruction.

The KUBE TF series roller conveyor auto-blast system

After significant investment and careful evaluation, Weaving Machinery selected the KUBE TF series from Blast Automation — a roller conveyor automatic blast system purpose-built for high-throughput industrial surface preparation.

The configuration was tailored specifically to their operation. 12 blasting wheels — all with individual power and abrasive volume control — provides the versatility to handle large, complex fabricated structures with consistency.

A key engineering consideration was the site's existing overhead crane infrastructure. Rather than requiring facility modifications, the KUBE TF's height was reduced through a double recovery system, allowing the cranes to operate freely across the full width of the machine.

"Despite being able to automatically blast items 2.5m wide and 2m high, our only regret is not having gone even bigger."

Excellent results — and a wish they'd gone larger

The investment has delivered on every front. Weaving Machinery now controls their blasting process entirely inhouse, without the unpredictability of subcontracting — and without taking on the burden of manual blast operations.

Capacity They've Already Outgrown

The machine performs so well that Weaving Machinery's only regret is not specifying an even larger working envelope from the outset.
